COURTS SUBCOMMITTEES:
Appellate, Civil Litigation, County, Criminal, Family, Federal, Juvenile, Probate & Guardianship and Workers Compensation (Subcommittees work
directly with the various courts on procedural changes and special projects.
ADMINISTRATIVE LAW AND GOVERNMENT RELATION:
New this year- plans are underway for several CLER seminars.
BUSINESS LAW:
For attorneys involved in a practice dealing with transactional law. Educational meetings, generally with speakers, CLE credits obtained.
BANKRUPTCY:
New this year - plans are underway for several CLER seminars.
BULLETIN:
This is one our most important Committees - the Bulletin is our primary way to communicate with members and publish notices of meetings and events.
Members serve as Editors, write and edit articles and coordinate layout and publication.
BUSINESS OUTREACH:
Newly formed committee- is open to membership for those committed to working as liaisons between the DCBA and other professions, industries and the
business community at large to reach a better understanding between the legal and business communities.
CONSTRUCTION LAW:
Reactivated this year- For attorneys involved in a practice dealing with Construction Law. Educational meetings, generally with speakers, CLER Credit
ENVIRONMENTAL LAW:
Several members have requested establishment of this committee, but to date there has been no interest. Gary Held has agreed to Chair the committee
but needs members in order to function.
IMMIGRATION:
Will focus on immigration matters of concern to our business community.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY:
Newly formed committee- is open to membership for those with an interest in any aspect of intellectual property, whether as a primary practice focus
or as an adjunct to a practice.
INTERNATIONAL LAW:
Lawyers interested in the international aspects of practice in our diverse community should join. Teach and learn possibilities.
LEGAL AID & OFFICE OF PUBLIC SERVICE:
Proposes policy and program to the Board of Directors for Legal Aid Society and "Put Something Back" Volunteer Lawyer Programs.
MEETINGS & LUNCHEONS:
Propose and obtain speakers for general membership meetings.
MEMBERSHIP & MEMBER SERVICES:
Coordinate membership recruitment and propose new services for members.
PROFESSIONALISM:
The "watchword" for the legal profession. The Florida Supreme Court continues to support professionalism as a top priority.
REAL PROPERTY:
Plans are underway for several seminars for this coming year.
SCHOOLS PROGRAMS:
Coordinates and conducts award winning programs in public and private schools.
SECURITY LITIGATION:
All facets of securities litigation, including shareholder litigation, investor fraud and broker-dealer arbitration, SEC and self-regulatory enforcement
actions and criminal securities matters. Completion Required.
