Dade County Bar Association Announces New Executive Director
The Dade County Bar Association, the largest voluntary bar association in the State of Florida, has announced the selection of Jacqueline B. Kiviat as its new Executive Director. Located in Miami-Dade County since 1916, the Dade County Bar Association has one of the largest & most diverse memberships of judges, lawyers, paralegals, law students, and professors in the nation. The selection was made after a regional search and selection process by the Executive Director Committee led by Past-President, Jeffrey Rynor and esteemed committee members: Former ABA President & Florida Bar President Stephen Zack, Former Florida Bar President Edith Osman, Former Florida Bar President Alan Dimond and Former Florida Bar President Edward Blumberg.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” said Dade County Bar President Jordan A. Dresnick. “Jacqui brings a depth of leadership and creativity to the Bar’s award-winning programming and a deep sense of commitment to our members. She has served in executive and leadership levels, fundraising, and has a breadth of perspective and experience.”
Jacqueline “Jacqui” Kiviat’s career began with management roles at AT&T, focusing on communications, community and public relations, corporate philanthropy, and government affairs - both in New York City and South Florida. She served for 16 years as Executive Director and COO at TerraLex, a worldwide network of independent law firms. Under Kiviat’s strategic leadership, TerraLex’s membership grew from 6,000 to 19,000 lawyers, and revenues increased fivefold. She helped expand the organization’s presence and relationships internationally as liaison with professional organizations, media, sponsors and external audiences. Kiviat also used her expertise to advance the goals of several nonprofits, including the United Way of Broward County and the American Business Women's Association.
Through Kiviat’s community involvement she has served as a board member of the Broward Public Library Foundation, the Miami City Ballet, as an Advisory Council member of NAWBO and as Vice President of the American Business Women’s Association SE Florida Chapter. In 2013, Kiviat was honored by The Commonwealth Institute as a Top Ten Non-Profit Business Leader in Florida.
“I am so honored to be a part of this historic bar association,” remarks Kiviat. “Together with the DCBA team, we will help the organization be a growing and thriving asset for the legal community.”
