Dade County Bar Association Hosts “Trial Run” Virtual 5K

Miami, Florida, April 9, 2020 – It is time to get moving off the couch! In an effort to help the public boost physical and mental wellness and keep busy during quarantine, the Dade County Bar Association (“DCBA”) is hosting a virtual 5K race, entitled the “Trial Run.” Where a traditional race would include a starting line, running as a group, and a finish line, in this virtual race, runners can run, walk or treadmill their 3.1 miles on their own schedule and safely at the location they choose. Upon completion of the 5K race, participants upload their time and route to receive a special finishers medal created just for the Trial Run in the mail. This virtual race is a healthy, body-strengthening activity and a great way to practice race day nutrition and hydration without the crowds or poor weather.

For those who enjoy competition, there will also be seven award categories:

  • Class Action Award: Awarded to the local county voluntary bar association with the most participants.
  • Judicious Jogger: This award will go to the male and female Judges with the best time.
  • Jurist Jot: This award will go to the male and female attorneys with the best time.
  • Mediator Meanderer: This award will go to the male and female mediators with the best time.
  • Paralegal Pace Setter: This award will go to the male and female paralegals with the best time.
  • Subpoenaed Suanterer: This award will go to the male and female participants who took the most leisure time to complete their race.
  • Virtual Accomplice: This award will go to the non-legal male and female participants with the best time.

Social media interaction is encouraged. Participants may download a race bib and tag the DCBA on all social platforms using the hashtag #TrialRun2020.

Interested participants should contact Shay Garcia at sgarcia@dadecountybar.org or visit www.dadecountybar.org/event/trialrun2020 to register.
