Boutique litigation firm in Los Angeles, with an office in New York, seeks Florida attorney with 8-20 years of law firm business litigation experience to assist with Florida litigation on a contract or part-time basis.  The firm has four active lawsuits in Florida:  two in Miami, two in Tampa.  Some limited travel within Florida will likely be required.  Currently, the firm handles most legal work in LA and uses Florida law firms to serve as local counsel.  The firm seeks to hire its own attorney in Florida, to replace or supplement existing local counsel.  The position will start as part-time (approx. 10-25 hours per week, with some fluctuation in hours depending on case activity), and could grow into more hours, potentially even full-time.  Candidate must have strong writing and oral advocacy skills (large volume of Florida court appearances and depositions a plus, trial experience also a plus), strong knowledge of Florida state court procedures, familiarity with the Miami and Tampa state courts, strong legal research skills, familiarity with defamation law/First Amendment is a plus, and a positive “team player” attitude is essential.  This is an ideal opportunity for: an attorney who wants to leave a litigation firm to start their own practice but needs a steady work flow/income; or a contract attorney in need of more hours/income; or an attorney who prefers to work less than full time.  The firm has a national reputation and its cases tend to be major cases for established clients, almost always hourly work, at good rates.  The firm provides the highest quality work for its clients, and the Florida attorney will need to do the same.  The firm’s other 9 attorneys are professional, ethical, friendly, hardworking but not overworked or stressed, and have positive attitudes.  Candidate should be the same.  Compensation commensurate with experience.  Excellent work quality and hours will be rewarded.
