Young Lawyers Section

Formed in 1952, the Young Lawyers Section (“YLS”) of the Dade County Bar Association has grown to over 1,300 members. Over the years, the programming has varied, but one thing has remained the same: the YLS is committed to serving our own community of young and new lawyers as well as the greater community-at-large.

How does the YLS work? We have our own E-Board Board of Directors that works alongside the DCBA Board of Directors. Our E-Board has a President, President-Elect, Secretary, and Treasurer, while our Board is composed of 14 Directors-at-Large that serve staggered two-year terms. YLS members are also members of the DCBA; however, the YLS does not receive any of the membership dues. The YLS keeps its own budget, does its own fundraising, and plans its programming.

For the 2018-19 year, we are shifting to project-based programming. Our main staples will remain the same: Miami Nights on November 15, 2018, and the Judicial Reception in April of 2019. Instead of tying our programming to committees, our Board of Directors will individually be taking point on specific programs that are grounded in our history or that are aligned with our commitment to the community. If you are interested in being a part of this year’s programming, or have any comments in general, please fill out the Member Survey.

In the meantime, follow us on social media: Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Reach out to your E-Board with any questions, suggestions, or just to connect. We’re looking forward to this year!
